Charter Schools Tied to Success Grows Branches in D.C.?
What could possibly go wrong?
Well for one thing students may learn something new about themselves and their world. They may learn to live in Harmony with self and others. They may develop a spirit of inquiry and tenacity for excellence. They may come to join you at your table of success…
What could possibly go wrong when a group of hard working visionaries decide to organize a school system based on laser focused inquiry and critical thinking skills? Nothing is more pleasing than being a part of a focused and self disciplined group with a mature spirit. It’s refreshing being part of a team that abhors whining, because they know that time is of the essence in capturing children’s hearts and minds.
What could possibly go wrong in a school where teachers and students roll up their sleeves and get down to business - to solve equations; huddle over a science experiment, put one last finishing touch to a masterpiece of art; get a classroom ready overnight in time for opening day; get children ready for a UIL competition even with your big belly getting in the way of you showing them how to stretch and express! What could possibly go wrong when teachers stop to soothe the crumpled hearts of grieving and traumatized children ; comfort a colleague who wages a daily battle against cancer while she nurtures and nudges emergent literacy to the fore? That’s the Nature of Harmony and as far as I can tell there is a lot that is right.
My child, like every other child under the sun (as Malala Yousafzai will tell you) deserves access to a good education. I hope that the governing bodies who decide such minor things as awarding a Charter will quickly get to the point and not quibble to bits the obviously moot point of whether or not every child was Born To Rise. There are workers out there ready and willing to get in the trenches and wage war against failure and academic decay. – Operation American Education Rising. It's time to Lay down the arms of mass destruction and Get Moving in the right direction…
Side Note: I personally know of two fine young men who are growing and learning in diverse ways at the Charter School of which we speak. These boys go to bed tired because they while their companions at other less passionate schools are sleeping have been burning the midnight oil of success. Make way for these boys. They are on their way to the round table. You probably won’t recognize them without their hoodies on….better watch out, they may certainly outpace you in the race to the top. Hint: Look for two highly educated, super animated, purpose driven Afro Turks.
