Our Nature
Welcome to the Armadillos website. Our website is dedicated to a wonderful and good natured group of former 4th Grade students at Harmony School of Nature and Athletics. Everyday of the 2010/2011 school year, this dedicated group of students arrived promptly at school, with great expectations for the serious, yet exciting business of learning. These students came away from their fourth grade year keenly aware that we are all a part of a diverse global community and with much to give and receive. They know that they are destined for greatness! It is my hope that all who enter this community of learners will recognize and embrace their own unique talents and use them to enrich their lives and others. Like the nature of the little armadillo, we are armored and empowered to succeed in the world.

Our Mentor
Hi! I'm Paula Andega and I consider it an honor and a privilege that you have partnered with me in the education of your child. For almost 20 years I have been growing and learning with my students, and what a journey it has been! After graduating from a unique diversity initiative teacher training program at York University in Toronto, Canada, I went to work teaching an array of young minds from diverse cultures and backgrounds. What an amazing and eye opening experience that was. I also had the good fortune to spend a summer in Kenya, East Africa where I had the chance to observe and interact with school children. I have a very fond memory of showing a little boy how to spell his name using some twigs and he in turn taught me some words in Swahili. I observed another young student in Istanbul, Turkey who reminded me of the uninhibited and inquisitive nature of the young mind, when he tried valiantly to pocket a worm during his outdoor lessons. For the past few years I've been teaching in Texas public schools and it is readily apparent that children really are the same the world over. I no longer teach full time in the classroom, but I've decided to share my knowledge gleaned over the years beyond the scope of the classroom. I believe that each child on our planet earth is a precious gift from God. We can't put a limit on the academic potential of our children. They are seeds waiting to be nurtured and to grow into oak trees. Time is precious. Let's get busy with planting seeds of success! We must do all we can before the setting sun.
